Στις μεγάλες αίθουσες και στα μούλτιπλεξ πήγε σχεδόν άκλαυτη. Μπορεί να κάνω και λάθος, δεν ξέρω. Την πήραμε σε DVD. Κοντέψαμε μάλιστα να τη γυρίσουμε και πίσω γιατί δεν βρήκαμε χρόνο, τρεις μέρες, να τη δούμε. Την βάλαμε χτες. Κολλήσαμε. Αγρια. Στο τελευταίο μισάωρο πήρα το Τζακ Ντάνιελς και έπινα μεγάλες τζούρες από το μπουκάλι. Χρόνια είχα να το κάνω αυτό. Ναι, δεν θα μπορούσα να με φανταστώ να την βλέπω στα σούπερ-σίνεμα-μάρκετ με ποπο-κορν και αναψυκτικό. Μετά χώθηκα κάτω από τα σεντόνια και παρακαλούσα να μην συνεχιστεί στα όνειρά μου… Δεν ονειρεύτηκα κάτι σχετικό. Σηκώθηκα όμως πιασμένος σε όλο μου το σώμα…

ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήΌταν την νοίκιάσαμε γκρίνιαζα ότι θα είναι απογοήτευση γιατί κάτι τέτοιο είχα διαβάσει στις κριτικές τον καιρό που παιζόταν στις αίθουσες.

Critical reception
Dana Stevens of Slate Magazine called the film "the herald of another blessed event: the arrival of a great director by the name of Alfonso Cuaro'n." Stevens hailed the film's extended car chase and battle scenes as "two of the most virtuoso single-shot chase sequences I've ever seen." Manohla Dargis of The New York Times called the film a "superbly directed political thriller", raining accolades on the long chase scenes. "Easily one of the best films of the year" said Ethan Alter of Film Journal International, with scenes that "dazzle you with their technical complexity and visual virtuosity." Jonathan Romney of The Independent praised the accuracy of Cuaro'n's portrait of Britain, but he criticized some of the film's futuristic scenes as "run-of-the-mill future fantasy."
Film Comment's Critics' Poll of the best films of 2006 ranked the film #19 while the 2006 Readers' Poll ranked it #2. On Rotten Tomatoes, Children of Men has a 91% overall approval out of 176 reviews from critics, and on Metacritic, the film has a rating of 84 based on 36 reviews.
Awards
P.D. James and the screenwriters of Children of Men were awarded the 19th annual USC Scripter Award for the screen adaptation of the novel. In reference to the award, Howard Rodman, chair of the USC School of Cinematic Arts Writing Division, described the book-to-screen adaptation as "writing and screen writing of the highest order."
The film also received awards for Best Cinematography and Best Production Design at the 60th British Academy Film Awards and was also nominated for Best Visual Effects. Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki won the feature film award for Best Cinematography at the 21st American Society of Cinematographers Awards. Nominations for the 79th Academy Awards were received in the categories of Best Adapted Screenplay (Alfonso Cuaro'n, Timothy J. Sexton, et al.); Best Cinematography (Emmanuel Lubezki); and Best Film Editing (Alfonso Cuaro'n and Alex Rodri'guez).
Mexican filmmaker Emmanuel Lubezki AMC ASC was awarded the Australian Cinematographers Society 2007 International Award for Cinematography for Children of Men. This is a popular vote by members of the Australian Cinematographers Society.

YΓ2. Οι κακές κριτικές όταν έπαιξε η ταινία μήπως ήταν από Έλληνες κριτικούς;
Ήταν πραγματικά μια πολυ ξεχωριστή ταινια!Άκρως-για μένα- αλληγορική, δεν με αφησε ούτε να γυρίσω να κοιτάξω την άδεια μου coca-cola....(την ειδα στο σινεμά, αλλα δεν άντεξα να μην την δω και στην απομόνωση)η μόνη στιγμή που κουνληθηκα ήταν θυμάμαι μετά τουσ τίτλους του τέλους οπου γύρισα και κοιταξα τουσ διπλανους μου, τους γυρω μου(και δεν σταματησα να τους κοιτώ οσότου χωθηκα στο πεζότατο σπίτι μου), κίνηση αναμενώμενη νομίζω, αφού ένα πράγμα από τα τόσα που μου έμειναν ήταν και το ανθρώπινο εγώ, το ανθρώπινο εμείς, το ανθρώπινο εμείς κι ίσως και το ανρθώπινο παντα ή μηπως τίποτα.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήΑρχίσαμε να την βλέπουμε την Δευτέρα μετά το Πάσχα σχεδόν αδιάφορα ξαπλωμένοι στο κρεβάτι βαριεστημένοι κουρασμένοι.Σε δέκα λεπτά ανασηκωθήκαμε και μέχρι το τέλος καθόμασταν στα καρφιά.
